Some animals that live in the ocean look very strange. It’s hard to tell if they’re a plant, an animal or something else.

ocean [ˑəʊʃən] n. 海洋

strange [streɪndʒ] adj.

include [ɪnˑkluːd] v.

sponge [spʌndʒ] n.

urchin [ˑзːtʃɪn] n.

coral [ˑkɒrəl] n.

starfish [ˑstɑːfɪʃ] n.

jellyfish [ˑdʒelɪfɪʃ] n.

anemone [əˑnemənɪ] n.

exactly [ɪgˑzæktlɪ] adv.

either [ˑɪːðə] adv.

for example [fɔː ɪgˑzɑːmpl] 例如

blob [blɒb] n. 一团

jelly [ˑdʒelɪ] n. 果冻

trailing [ˑtreɪlɪŋ] adj.

tentacle [ˑtentəkl] n.

rock [rɒk] n.

These animals include sponges, sea urchins, coral, starfish, jellyfish and sea anemones. They don’t look like most animals, but they don’t look exactly like plants either.

The jellyfish, for example, looks like a blob of jelly with long trailing tentacles. Coral stays on the ocean floor. They’re hard. They almost look like rocks, but they’re not.

Look, there’s a kitty in the bushes.

Where have you been? I’ve looked everywhere.

There’s a window in my bedroom. It looks to the south.

4. 表示“看上去”:These apples look ripe.

That cloud looks like a rabbit.

sponges

sea urchins

那么就来挑战一下吧!_____________

Sponge

The sponge is a simple(简单的)animal with many cells(细胞), but no mouth, muscles(肌肉), heart or brain(大脑). It cannot move from place to place like most other animals. It grows in one place like most plants do.

Their bodies are full of pores(小孔)and channels(通道), so that water can circulate(流通)through them. Most of them eat bacteria(细菌)and other microorganisms(微生物). A few of them eat tiny(微小的)crustaceans(甲壳类动物).

There are more than 10,000 species(种类)of sponge. Most sponges live in the ocean(海洋). A few live in fresh water(淡水).
